… I knew this month would be an enjoyable one for me… it was great to get a bit more insight into your lovely minds and your amazing cookbook collections… and so interesting to discover which books you’d grab and run and why… like me, many of you went with books that wern’t your favourite but had some kind of practical aspect or books that covered all corners of cooking… and then some of you simply panicked and just grabbed the first book they saw… anyway I think you all enjoyed the process too, so without further ado here’s August’s collection of random recipes…

here we have Jean from Baking in Franglais with a Butternut Squash and Red Onion Tart randomly selected very directly from the Popina Book of Baking
next is Caroline from Caroline Makes with a stonker of a bake and this Giant Cookie Buttermilk Birthday Cake taken from one of my potential grab and run books Nigella’s How to be a Domestic Goddess
it seems good old Nigella and her How to be a Domestic Goddess is a popular grab and run book for many of you… here’s the very chocolatey Choclette from Chocolate Log Blog with a rather wonderful looking Fig and Chocolate Victoria Sponge
and even though you’d think we deserve a break from Nigella here’s Debby from Cooking Up A Storm in a Teacup with a delicious Pea and Garlic Soup – a Nigella recipe taken from the also popular Nigel Slater’s Real Food
next up is Gary from Exploits of a Food Nut who does give us that Nigella-free recipe with this stunning Cauliflower and Chickpea Curry taken from Veg Everyday by HFW.
i thought i’d sneak mine in here… it’s a Aubergine and Courgette Bake randomly selected from Delia Smith’s Complete Cookery Course
next up is another lovely mixed vegetable curry, this time from Janice from Farmersgirl Kitchen who randomly selected from The Good Housekeeping Cookery Book – The Cook’s Classic Companion
here’s Denise from Magnolia Verandah with an actual real-life grab and run situation… she chose well with this Stir Fry Pork Fillets with Honey and Ginger, randomly chosen from Kylie Kwong’s Simple Chinese Cooking
next is Stacy from Food Lust People Love and what I would consider one of my ultimate dishes to eat on any given day of the week an Arroz con Pollo taken from Flour Too by Joanne Chang
now we’ve got our first random recipes virgin this month and it’s Alison from Dragons and Fairy Dust with an Impossible Pie taken from her grab and run book The Australian Women’s Weekly Home Cooked
next up is Lola and Finn’s Mum with some rather gorgeous looking Linzer Cookies randomly selected from the excellent Barefoot Contessa Cookbook
and here’s Janet at The Taste Space with these brilliant Mango Curry Chickpea Salad Wraps taken from The Great Vegan Bean Book
continuing our grab and run journey now is Elizabeth from Law Students Cookbook and a very naughty looking Mediterranean Chicken taken from the less naughty Cook Yourself Thin
and here’s the lovely and hopefully healthy Jane from Onions and Paper and a Tapenade very randomly selected from a rather tattered and torn copy of The Paupers Cookbook by Jocasta Innes
next along we have a double whammy from the brilliant Lou and Steve from Please Do Not Feed The Animals… Lou grabbed the brilliant Nigel Slater’s Kitchen Diaries and made a Smoked Salmon and Cucumber Spread and Steve grabbed the equally amazing Moro Cookbook and made a Broad Bean and Dill Pilav
well next we have Sally the Recipe Junkie with a Chicken Paprika taken from a ‘much loved’ copy of Leith’s Cookery Bible
and here we are back to Sir Nigel of Slater and the beautifully evocative Karen from Lavender and Lovage with Saint Marcellin Cheese, Tomatoes and Basil
and here’s Fiona from TIFFIN and a delicious Tuna Carpaccio taken from Donna Hay’s brilliant Off the Shelf – Cooking from the Pantry… a signed book none-the-less!
next up is lovely Roz from The More Than Occasional Baker with a stunning Chocolate Chip and Vanilla Marble Cake randomly selected from Mary Berry’s Ultimate Cake Book
and last but by no means least here’s Claire from Under The Blue Gum Tree with a delightful Tomato and Chilli Jam randomly selected from the excellent Ballymoloe Cookery School by Darina Allen

Wow – some super looking goodies this month. I really really wanted to enter but when I thought to myself yesterday 'what's the date – I really must do my random recipe' and realised it was the 29th already I realised I'd missed it again! And now you tell me there's no September RR – boo!!! Perhaps I should make something from what would have been my 'grab and run' book 'The River Cottage Fish Book'. Or I could spend the month making several of these recipes… intrigued to know what's happening in September instead of RR????

Wow…. what a varied and interesting bunch of recipes. I've not done any blog challenges yet (having only been blogging for a few months) but this looks like a lot of fun……… Might just have to have a go next time round!

A fine round-up as ever and a fine selection of recipes. Thanks so much for hosting the challenge. I don't know if it's a first but Claire from Under The Blue Gum Tree randomly selected exactly the same recipe that I randomly selected for an earlier RR challenge. It's not surprising that the same book came up but there are well over a thousand recipes in that book. That's slightly spooky.
