… well it seems I struck a chord with many of you who were either thinking about a clear-out or had just already done one and by the cut of your random recipes it may be that i’ve saved one or two books from the pyre. Sorry about that… and other than a group of soup I don’t think we’ve ever had a more random selection of food. I love it!
next up is another bizarre one, this time from Galina over at Chez Maxima with a Rabbit and Chocolate Stew randomy selected from Two Fat Ladies – Full Throttle
and next is Corina from Searching for Spice with a Carrot and Ginger Soup with Marmite Croutons… love them or loath them they look good to me… taken from Eat for Health
and here’s the lovely Kate from the Gluten Free Alchemist with some very special Sudanese Peanut Macaroons randomly selected from The New Internationalist Food Book
and now we have Alison from Dragons and Fairy Dust with a Good Friday Vegetable Soup taken from More with less by Doris Longacre
next up we have Jill from Lapin d’Or and More with another soup, this time an Avegolemono Soup with Pastina randomly chosen from Cold Pasta by James McNair
and here’s dear Jane from Onions and Paper with a really fresh looking Channa Salad taken from 30 Minute Indian by Sunil Vijayaker.
next up in the random re
cipe madness collective is Craig from The Usual Saucepans with a stunning Venison Burger with brie and cranberry taken from Mince by Mitzie Wilson
and now we have the potato crazy Gary from Big Spud with a mouth-watering Crunchy Polenta Shepherd’s Pie taken from The Best by Ben O’ Donoghue
and finally this month, here’s dear sweet and slightly bonkers Ruth from Makey Cakey with a baked honey and nut bread taken from Apples for Jame by Tess Kiros

I so wanted to enter this month but ran out of time. I got as far as picking my recipe which was a raspberry Bakewell cake randomly selected from my straining leaver arch file of collected recipes – I couldn't choose a book to spring clean so thought I'd make some progress on going through the file instead for my recipe spring clean. Such a shame it never got made but at least I've got this very interesting collects to read through!

Great collection of randomness – I so love the strange recipes that appear. Sorry I didn't manage to take part this month. As you say, crazy busy. AND it means I haven't managed to clear any space on my bookshelves.

Great collection. Sadly mine was missed in the shuffle, Dom. 🙁

Wow, that's a fab selection from a bunch of rejects (the books, not the bloggers !)

What a wonderful, beautiful selection of random recipes! I did want to enter this month using an ancient fondue cookbook I never, ever use but I'm afraid we're skint so there were no ingredients for most of the recipes (cheese is expensive and our village shop doesn't carry much else besides cheddar!) I had to get creative with what we had on hand (now there is a challenge idea! Make a complete meal with what you've got in the fridge/freezer without buying anything new for it!). Hopefully I'll get back into the swing of things for the next challenge.

Mmm … I must be in the mood for soup today because it's the soups that jumped out at me, Dom. Like the the vegetable soup … and the carrot soup with marmite croutons.

I had my recipe chosen this month (a chicken dish,) but I ran out of time. Moving makes life hectic. Anyway, it's always nice to see the recipes others made!

That cookbook with bubble bath woman on the cover is hilarious!!
The Kitchenmaid says
Darling, you shouldn't have (but I'm ever so glad you did!) Now, the acid test is, how many of us will actually get rid of those cookbooks now we've rediscovered them? Or, who fancies a swap?!
The Kitchenmaid says
It's actually quite a good book (a bit dated now, but still useful). I really don't know what the publisher was thinking, but it sold truckloads of copies so maybe there's something in it. Perhaps I'll pose in a bubble bath for my next blog post…

I got as far as picking my recipe from a very 70's book “Soup, beautiful Soup” by John Pertwee's wife; Ingeborg. It has some true randomness in it – I got cabbage soup with frankfurters. I even bought quorn frankfurters for it but then ran out of steam. I think the instruction in the recipe to boil the cabbage for a WHOLE HOUR put me off somewhat… Some brilliant randomness here though – and I like the idea of a swap of our craziest books. 🙂
