… hello all and happy new year… I won’t deny it but I really enjoyed twenty fourteen… work was hard but exciting, my health was incrementally better than the previous year and whilst I love a good moan, the blog also brought me a lot of joy… twenty fifteen is promising to be another good year, there will be more hard work but it already looks like it will be as thrilling as last year, i’m promising myself that I will also work hard at improving my health even more and of course I have plans to weave the story of this blog into my life a little more so that I have a better work/life balance… i’d like to aim to go back to the reason I started this blog which was to write about the food I cook and the food I enjoy and my life as a lover of food… there will be plenty of, hopefully delicious and inspirational recipes and I look forward to being inspired by others and discovering new cooks and blogs along the way. Of course I will try and be as generous with my comments on all my favourite blogs as I can be and hope to share my thoughts and inspirations in a positive way…
… in the meantime (and until I get back to the kitchen) here are some postcards of my recent holiday to California… the home of Kale…
eat and of course, enjoy!

Happy New Year!
I think I need to work on my kale quota. I tend to burn the kale chips and find the stir fried version rather chewy. But I'm persevering!

Happy New Year, I've enjoyed watching your California adventure and I made a Chickpea, spicy tomato and KALE soup at the weekend!

Well, THERE you are! Happy New Year, dearie! I'm glad you were able to have a nice 'break away' … as for the kale. It may be good for you and it may be the trendy green du jour, but I'm confident other greens will 'supplant', so to speak. DO stay healthy in 2015! XO!

Sounds like you have had a great time in California – for me this is the home of BIG food. I found all the portion sizes to be enormous. Thankfully the food itself was normally of a healthy nature – salads particularly. Looking forward to seeing more recipes from you. I would like to see less about cakes and more savoury dishes!

Happy new year, Dom! I confess I struggle with kale, I tried it so many times, and I don't like it. I know it's a crime of the century. I prefer beet leaves or even chard. I guess I will be a persona non grata among the foodies now that I mentioned my dislike of kale. 🙂
The Kitchenmaid says
Happy new year Dom! Personally, I think kale is an example of great marketing rather than anything else. Bugger the superfoods, I say! Kale chips are the biggest most Goop-ist joke ever invented. Just drink the olive oil and sprinkle some salt in your mouth, then leave the kale for the compost. Much love to you and thanks for your support in 2014 x

Welcome back and Happy 2015! The only time I tried Kale crisps from M&S I physically wretched. Not a good sign! (is that too honest? I fear I will be seriously castigated…….). Maybe I should try cooking with it?
