… it seems that my random recipes random number generator thingamidoodah proved rather popular this month with many of you rather liking the thrill of the unknown digital ‘hands-off’ approach… there was something rather scary about having no control over any of the choices that added something to the proceedings this month… it certainly left us with a very random collection of recipes from a fearsome selection of books. ย Some months it can be all curry’s and cakes but this time we really had a wide selection of randomness… i’m sure this high-tech gadget will make another appearance again soon but until then, feast your eyes on this lot…
random recipes #27 round-up
let’s start with the adorable Karen from Lavender and Lovage with this stunning Cheese and Onion Scone Bread taken from The Art of Home Cooking by the Stork Cookery Service Heritage Cook Book
and off you pop to check out the rest of April’s random recipes after the jump…
next up is Fiona from TIFFIN with a Moroccan Chickpea Soup taken from the beautiful Arabesque by Greg and Lucy Malouf
here’s the delightful Caroline from All That I’m Eating with a Veal, Pork, Serrano Ham and Porcini Cannelloni taken from Rick Stein’s Spain – un-faultably moreish if you ask me!

here’s the well-travelled and well-fed Chris from Cooking Around the World with his Tonno di Nonna Fangitta taken from Jamie’s Italy by Jamie Oliver.
and then here’s Elizabeth from Elizabeth’s Kitchen with a wonderfully fragrant Tavuklu Pilav and Labnieh randomly selected from Claudia Roden’s A New Book of Middle Eastern Foods
next up is our very own Farmersgirl Janice with a very fine Treacle Bite taken from the rather retro looking The Dairy Book of Home Cookery

and next up is Rachel from Marmaduke Scarlet who’s innuendo’s about my balls aside has made some delicious Prawn Balls with Vietnamese Noodle Soup taken from The Bowlers Beatball Book by Jez Felwick
here’s the long suffering Jane from Onions and Paper who really ended up with a bit of a doozy this month but persevered with true British spirit none-the-less with these rather sad looking Beancurd Satay taken from Travels with A Hot Wok by Ken Hom
and here’s yet another random recipes virgin Bec’s from Lay the Table with a fabulously hearty Beef and Honey Stew taken from The Hairy Bikers, Mum Still Knows Best.
now this is truly random and quite frankly, exactly what random recipes are all about… it’s a Chicken Under a Brick made by Sally from Recipe Junkie and taken from Nigellisima by Nigella Lawson… maybe a little unfair of me to show you the ‘before’ picture but you’ll just have to go over to Sally’s blog to see the finished dish..
next up is Sarah from Sezza Knits with a very nice and naughtily boozy, picture perfect, Chocolate Raisin Cake taken from Bake Essential Companion by Alison Thompson
and here’s Erika from Tea with Erika with these butter-dripping treats, Yoghurt Scones taken from a much neglected and not all that tempting sounding The Ultimate Low Cholesterol Low Fat Cookbook…
and next is Suzanne from This Upside Down Life who’s turning rather violet, violet with these Blueberry Cornmeal Muffins taken from Nigella’s Kitchen.
and here is the completely bonkers Choclette from the marvellous Chocolate Log Blog… for it is only she who would have a book with a recipe for Chocolate and Goats Cheese Tart in it… the book in question is The Chocolate Lovers by The Tanner Bros.
next up is Denise from Magnolia Verandah with one of my all time favourite things, Steamed Pork Buns taken from Jamie’s Kitchen by Jamie Oliver.ย

ย ย
next up is Elizabeth from The Law Student’s Cookbook and a Ricotta Sponge Cake that went a little wrong, even though to me it looks like the ultimate sandwich that i’d have no problems eating!
and next it’s the lovely Roz from The More Than Occasional Baker with a fab tray of chocolate and coffee spelt cookies taken from the Cookie Jar cook book.
a quick dash for the finish line from another virgin (we’ll have to explain the rules to this one) is Becky from Picture Imperfect with a delightful looking Cornish Calzone taken from Nigella’s How to be a Domestic Goddess.
close to last is Ruth from Makey-Cakey with what she’s calling her ‘random number generator muffins’ but which are really Hazelnut Plum Muffins from the Australian Women’s Weekly
and swooping in at the last minute is lovely Lou from Please Do Not Feed The Animals with her addition to a cheese-fest with these GORGEOUS cheese, bacon and apple muffins randomly selected to Nigel Slater’s Kitchen Diaries II
of course there’s always one or two who swoop in unashamedly at the last moment and here’s Ruth from 8&Ruth, gawd bless her, and a bloody fantastic Koresht-e-Gheimeh Khalal, ahem, taken from Veggiestan
… and so all it leaves me to say is my usual ‘thank-you’ for taking part, it always makes me smile to receive your amazing entries and I love that you all seem to not tire of the whole random recipes nonsense… look out next month for a bit of a more structured theme…
